AquaThruster Owners Fall Maintenance and Storage

Article provided by Weeders Digest

Before putting your AquaThruster into storage for the season:

  • Remove the unit from the dock
  • Inspect the cords and propellers for any damage or excessive wear
  • Wipe any debris that could be on the cord or can

Extend the life of your AquaThurster and maintain high quality performance by cleaning any debris from the motor, until you are able to see the stainless can. Build up around the can will prevent the unit from cooling down correctly. A degreaser or a pressure washer may help.

The AquaThruster and Oscillator units should remain out of the elements if it is not being used.

Check These 3 Things First:

  • Propeller: Check to make sure you have all the blades that your unit requires. Also look for chips and grinded down blades. A good indicator of a broken prop would be excessive shaking or vibration. You may also be able to notice a dramatic difference in the performance and torque of the machine.
    • 1/2hp – 2 blades
    • 3/4hp – 2 blades
    • 1hp – 4 blades
    • 2hp – 3 blades
  • Cords: Check for damage to the cord that could have happened throughout the season. Examples include cuts, small nicks, rodent (chew marks) or excessive wear on tie down spots on the cord. Consider scheduling service before the spring and summer.
  • Storage: Storing the AquaThruster is very easy. Clean the stainless steel AquaThruster can to increase longevity, efficiency, and cooling. The unit should be stored up right in a shed or garage. It does not need to be stored in a heated environment.
  • Anode: If you operate in brackish & salt water consider replacing your anode.
